Maine Business News
Jennifer Wold, Chairperson of the Maine State Committee is pleased to announce the generous gift of $2,000 from the Wal-Mart Foundation to support the work of the National Scholarship Fund. The National Scholarship Fund provides financial resources to youth who have aged out of foster care, to help eliminate the barriers to attending the college or university of their choice. The National Scholarship Fund provides both non- traditional and traditional scholarship funding in Maine.
Jeffrey Vaillancourt; Wal-Mart Store Manager, Scarborough ME, understands the unique financial need these young adults have to attend community college or a traditional four year program, without the support of a traditional family. When hearing about the plight of these students, Vaillancourt said “Wal-Mart is committed to helping the local community grow and flourish, and we are glad to have this opportunity to support these deserving young people. Giving back to our communities is an important part of the Wal-Mart philosophy. Over the past year, the Scarborough Wal-Mart has donated over more than $50,000 to help a variety of local causes and efforts.”
